Most people in this world want to be happy and successful, right?. Many will struggle through life trying to figure out how to be happy and successful.
The question you must ask yourself is, “What will truly make you happy?”
Some will answer money. Or social acceptance. Others will say physical fitness, being famous, having a family, etc.
The fact is, no matter what will make you truly happy in this world, it all comes down to what you do and how you do it. Ask yourself, what is your morning routine? Who do you hang out with? How do you allow yourself to act and think in stressful situations? All these factors contribute to your success and prosperity.
Morning Routine
Sticking to a morning routine has so many benefits and meanings.
Committing to a morning routine for multiple weeks or months in a row suggests that you are able to create healthy habits for yourself. Once healthy routines become habits, you will see your life beginning to change for the better.
You will see:
- It reduces morning stress.
- You will have more time in your day. (More productive)
- You become a better problem solver.
- You will feel fulfilled in your mind and body.
The easiest way to stick to a morning routine is to write out your morning schedule minute by minute the night before. That way, you have a schedule to stick by. You will limit the overwhelming morning feeling.
For optimal success, I would include some, if not most the following into your morning routine:
- Wake up early (6-7am)
- Wash your face.
- Stay off your phone. (For at least an hour)
- Drink water. (At least 12oz of water)
- Stretch. (5-10 minutes)
- Meditate / Deep breathing. (3-5 minutes)
- Read / Journal.
- Exercise.
- Eat a healthy breakfast.
I suggest sticking to the same morning routine each day until it becomes a habit. When creating these healthy habits, you will become more positive and productive! You will have more energy and feel motivated to attack each and every day.
When one is more positive and productive during the day, you accomplish a lot more! You are able to clearly focus on your daily tasks. Your work productivity will go up. Your relationships will be more enjoyable. Your will have happier and more fulfilled life!
Journaling
Journaling can be an incredibly helpful tool that should be included in your morning routine. Think about your favorite football team. The coach will call a team meeting to review game film. With each play, the coach will identify what went well, what did not go well, and how the team can improve during their next game. That is how a team can grow and perform better on the field. Journaling works the same way.
Each day, write in your journal what went well, what didn’t go so well, and how you can improve tomorrow. This will help you to identify what you struggle with on a day to day basis. Furthermore, writing in your journal in the morning/evening will help you decide what you need to do tomorrow to have a more successful day.
Meditation
Although mediation may seem boring or pointless to some, visualizing your future is a powerful technique that most CEO’s use. Meditation is not only deep breathing and thinking. You are actively visualizing your day/week. What you will do, how you will do it, and the outcome of each situation. Visualizing positive outcomes will help you to control the outcome in reality.
Being in a state of complete relaxation will eliminate crowded thoughts and reduce stress. Furthermore, meditation will result in an enhanced emotional and physical well-being. Mindfulness is key for managing your mindset. For beginners, I suggest meditating for 3-5 minutes 3 times per week.
The mind is so powerful. What is on your mind the most will become a reality.
Physical Activity
Physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your health, mood, and overall quality of life. Now I am not talking about going to the gym 4-6 times per week. Getting your heart rate up slightly will begin to release endorphins which is the “feel good” hormone. When you exercise, your energy and mood will drastically improve. Including some kind of physical activity into your morning routine (2-3 times per week) is highly recommended.
Great workouts for time constricted people:
- Walking / Running
- Yoga
- Biking
- Swimming
- Stair Stepper
- Golf / Basketball / Baseball / Tennis
- Martial Arts / Dance
Your Surroundings
Most people’s emotions and actions are dependent on what surrounds you. Think about it, when you look at negative social media, your mood changes into a negative state. When you see something positive and happy on social media, you smile and your mood changes into a positive state.
The key to mastering your mindset is choosing how to react in certain situations. Staying positive and ambitious during a negative situation will result in a positive and happier mood. This can be practiced during your meditation session.
Why waste energy on being negative and in a bad mood?
In fact, you are the average of the top 5 people you spend the most time with. In order to live a happy and prosperous life, you must remove negativity from your life! It’s that simple.
Most CEO’s, Managers, and President’s of companies never focus on the negative. They always focus on the positive and what they can do to make a positive environment for their company. That is why they are successful.
To Recap…
A farmer will drive to go feed his sheep every morning. He drives the same route each and every day for 10+ years. If the farmer sticks to the same path, the tire trials will become permanent in the ground making the drive seem effortless. A morning routine acts the same way.
Setting aside some time for yourself in the morning so you can focus on a healthy and smart morning routine will lead to you feeling happier, more fulfilled, and enthusiastic about your day!
It is what YOU make it. Choose to live a happier life. The question now is, what do you do to be happy?
